Ryan Seacrest caught up with Brown on the Grammys red carpet and chatted him up about the work that got him nominated for best urban contemporary album at this year’s awards.

“Any time I do music I always want to reach different audiences, different cultures, different facets of life,” Brown said, noting how he’s 25 now, and he wants his fans to know where he’s at as an artist and entertainer. Love, sorrow, regret, pain… it’s all on there!

Brown’s “New Flame,” a collaboration with Usher and Rick Ross, is also up for best R&B performance and best R&B song.
