Def Jam

The Grammy nominee's first Def Jam album features new single 'Sandwich and a Soda,' released today.

Six-time Grammy Award nominee Tamia returns today with new single “Sandwich and a Soda.” Impacting urban AC radio and simultaneously released at iTunes and all digital partners, the song doubles as the first single from the singer/songwriter’s forthcoming June album, LoveLife.

The set–her sixth overall–also marks Tamia’s first project for Def Jam Recordings, with whom she signed last August. Her LoveLife collaborators include hit-making producers Pop & Oak, The-Dream and Tricky Stewart.

Tamia Signs With Def Jam Ahead of New Album

Tamia’s most recent album was 2012’s Beautiful Surprise, released through her own Capitol/EMI-distributed Plus One Music Group label. The album netted two Grammy nominations: best R&B song for the title track and best R&B album. Tamia, the wife of NBA Hall of Famer Grant Hill, made her breakthrough in 1995 when Quincy Jones introduced her on the single “You Put a Move on My Heart.” Her other hits include the No. 1 R&B duet with Eric Benét, “Spend My Life With You.”
