Diplo & Skrillex tap Grammy-winning rap icon to remix first official dual single.

In the six months since Diplo and Skrillex released their first single as the supergroup Jack Ü, the song, which is called “Take Ü There” and features Kiesza, has become a festival and radio giant. But it’s about to get even bigger. On Wednesday (Feb. 18), the duo released a remix that features the inimitable Missy Elliott. Watch the video below:

Fittingly, her verses are peppered with nods to ’90s-era rap: “Boy, you know you got that gushy, make me feel all mushy, when you touchin’ on my tushy, Salt-N-Pepa wanna push it, make me wanna shoop shoop.”

Why Missy Elliott? Super Bowl Halftime EP Explains Her Surprise Appearance

At the risk of stating the obvious, this smells like the beginning of a major Missy comeback. The Grammy-winning MC made headlines earlier this month when she surprise-performed her hit “Work It” during Katy Perry’s Super Bowl halftime show, and in the weeks since, has been popping up on various social-media apps. The Jack Ü remix was teased on Snapchat around the same time Elliott tweeted a picture of herself in the studio with longtime collaborator Timbaland. (For perspective, the last time she dropped an album was 2005, with The Cookbook.)

Diplo and Skrillex, on the other hand, are just about the opposite of reclusive, performing hundreds of gigs a year in their solo endeavors and ramping up appearances as Jack Ü. Although an official release date hasn’t been confirmed for the first Jack Ü album, sources from both artists’ camps say it’s on its way.
