Hip Hop Single Sales: Rihanna, Missy Elliott, Nicki Minaj

“FourFiveSeconds” holds onto the top spot and Missy Elliott takes over three spots in the Top 10.

For a second week in a row, Rihanna’s “FourFiveSeconds” is the #1 song on the Hip Hop and R&B Single Sales chart. The track beat out the #2 single by nearly 100,000 units in its third week on the list. Meanwhile, Missy Elliott made a surprise return to the Top 10 following her appearance at Super Bowl XLIX. Elliott has three tracks on the chart, two of which displaced Nicki Minaj, Drake, and Lil Wayne at #2.

Lower down the list, Big Sean’s “Blessings” cracked into the Top 10, Usher and Juicy J remain steady at #6, and Ne-Yo’s latest drops to #10.

“FourFiveSeconds” Stays On Top

Three weeks after its release, Rihanna, Kanye West, and Paul McCartney’s “FourFiveSeconds” is at #1 for a second week in a row. The track, which is set to appear on both Rihanna and Kanye’s upcoming albums, sold another 180,862 singles this past week, bringing its total up to 371,673. The sales for “FourFiveSeconds” are still on the rise with the latest numbers representing a 31% sales increase from the previous report.

Missy Elliott Takes Over Three Spots In The Top 10

After breaking into the Billboard Top 200 with her 2002 release Under Construction thanks to a surprise Super Bowl halftime appearance, Missy Elliott took over three spots in the Top 10 R&B and Hip Hop Single Sales chart. “Work It,” which was released as the second single of Elliott’s 2002 album, jumped to #2 with 82,779 singles sold. Just below, an even older track, “Get Ur Freak On,” also made its way back up the charts, peaking at #3 with 77,622 sales.

A couple spots lower, Missy’s Ciara and Fatman Scoop-featuring “Lose Control” jumped to #5, helping the single push past its already-platinum status.

Nicki Minaj, Drake, & Lil Wayne At #4

Displaced by Missy Elliott’s surprise return to the charts, “Truffle Butter” fell to #4. The Drake and Lil Wayne-featuring Pinkprint offering pushed a total of 67,313 singles this past week, helping the track to a total count just over 173,000.
