The radio host tells Larry King that Kanye West is hypocritical for saying Beck needed to respect artistry.
In a recent interview, Larry King asked Charlamagne Tha God his opinion on Kanye West walking onstage when Beck won the Grammy Award for Album of the Year.
“It worked until I realized he actually was serious,” Charlamagne says. “‘Cause if you saw the after-show he did on E!, then he went into this whole rant about how Beck needed to respect Beyonce’s artistry and give his award away to Beyonce, which I think is super whack because Kanye’s calling for somebody to respect people’s artistry, but he doesn’t respect anybody else’s artistry. Kanye West wants us to respect the artistry that he likes. If he likes it, then we all should like it. If he doesn’t like it, then we shouldn’t like it, which is hypocritical.”
After the awards show, West said, “Beck needs to respect artistry and he should have given his award to Beyonce.”
West attempted to clarified his comments, telling Ryan Seacrest that “what I really wanted to do is just joke around about what had happened before [with Taylor Swift], but I just really didn’t want to take away from Beck’s moment.”
Larry King’s full interview with Charlamagne Tha God will premiere Friday, February 20th at 2 P.M. EST on Ora TV, according to allhiphop.
