"13 Of Eminem’s Biggest Career Highlights" Listed By XXL

From his first Grammy award to the success of “8 Mile,” XXL lists some of Eminem’s career milestones.

With Eminem adding two Grammy awards to his pile on Sunday (February 8), XXL has listed 13 of the rapper’s biggest career highlights in a new list.

Included on the list are early career highlights like Em’s signing to Aftermath and the release of his breakout sophomore album The Slim Shady LP. Revisiting his first Grammy awards appearance, XXL also listed that occasion and noted that he won the same number in 2000 as he did most recently.

“Every artist remembers their first Grammy Award, and Em took home two on this evening for Best Rap Album and Best Rap Solo Performance (for ‘My Name Is’),” the site wrote. “In a year when Santana and a slew of boy bands were taking over, Eminem was gathering enough material to fire a round of missiles at everyone in the room on his next release.”

The list also notes the huge first-week sales for Eminem’s following album the next year, The Marshall Mathers LP. “Not only was his sophomore album a Diamond-seller and one of the greatest hip-hop albums of all time, but it also smashed any idea that hip-hop wasn’t the dominant musical genre by defeating Britney Spears’ seemingly-unattainable mark by selling 1.76 million copies in its first week alone,” XXL’s list says.

Elsewhere on the list, the Detroit rapper’s famous duet with Elton John at the 2001 Grammys and the release and commercial success of 8 Mile get mention.
